Welcome

Welcome to my Teen Yoga website.
I am a qualified teacher, yoga teacher and have completed additional courses in teaching yoga and mindfulness to young people. I am passionate about sharing the benefits of yoga and mindfulness practices with young people as they offer a range of tools to help combat the stresses of modern day life.
Sources suggest that young people are facing more stress than ever before with 1 in 10 young people aged 5-16 diagnosed with a mental health disorder. Research shows that engaging in a mindfulness practice such as yoga and meditation has ‘beneficial effects on the emotional wellbeing, mental health, ability to learn and the physical health of school students,’ (Mindfulness in School Project, Exeter University 2012.
Young people introduced to mindfulness activities such as yoga provides access to the skills needed to take charge  of their own behaviour and emotional responses which will see a positive impact on their self-esteem as well as their ability to motivate them academically. Studies have also seen that mindfulness activities such as yoga, meditation and breathing exercise, all of which are covered in  yoga classes can significantly improve students’’ physical, emotional and mental wellbeing.
Courses range from six to 10 weeks in duration with participants reporting a range of benefits including a huge reduction in stress levels.
Comments include:
“I am less mentally tense, or stressed.”
“It makes me feel better about myself and care less about how others feel about me.”
“I feel like my worries are not so bad after all. I find it easier to tolerate myself and the issues I get into.”
“Yoga makes me feel more peaceful.”
A new course will begin in the Sefton area very soon, please email formbyyoga@gmail.com for further details.
